    Uvod/Cilj. Parodontopatija je hronično inflamatorno oboljenje parodontalnih tkiva koje za krajnji ishod ima gubitak potpornog koštanog tkiva zuba usled imunoloških reakcija izazvanih parodontopatogenim bakterijama. Cilj studije bio je korelisanje kliničkih parametara i prisustva dve najagresivnije parodontopatogene bakterije (Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans - A.a. i Porphyromonas gingivalis - P.g.) kod bolesnika sa progresivnim parodontalnim lezijama. Metode. U studiju su bila uključena 34 sistemski zdrava ispitanika, starost 23-70 godina. Ispitanici su klinički i radiološki pregledani i uzorak je uziman iz reprezentativnog parodontalnog džepa sa najvećom dubinom sondiranja. Od kliničkih parametara mereni su gingivalni indeks, indeks krvarenja gingive, dubina parodontalnog džepa i indeks plaka. Prisustvo parodontopatogena dokazivano je multipleks metodom PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), a rezultati su korelisani sa kliničkim parametrima primenom odgovarajućih statističkih testova. Rezultati. Ista procentualna zastupljenost oba mikroorganizma dokazana je u uzorcima, naime i A.a. i P.g. bili su prisutni u po 35,39% uzoraka, a u 29,41% dokazana su oba mikroorganizma. Rezultati su korelisani po grupama formiranim u odnosu na prisustvo bakterija. Vrednosti merenih kliničkih parametara nisu se statistički značajno razlikovale u zavisnosti od prisustva parodontopatogena. Međusobne korelacije kliničkih parametara unutar grupe nisu pokazale statističku značajnost, osim korelacije gingivalnog i plak indeksa u grupi sa A.a. Zaključak. Klinički tok uznapredovale faze parodontopatije ne razlikuje se u odnosu na vrstu parodontalnih bakterija kao induktora imunološki posredovanih destruktivnih procesa. Background/Aim. Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease of periodontal tissues with consequential is bone loss as a result of host immunological reactions caused by periopathogens. The aim of the study was to investigate if there is a correlation between clinical parameters and the presence of two most aggressive periopathogens (Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans - Aa and Porphyromonas gingivalis - Pg) in patients with progressive periodontal lesions. Methods. A total of 34 systemic healthy people, 23 to 70 years old, were included in the study. The patients were clinically and radiologically examined, and after that, the representative pocket with greatest pocket depth was chosen and the sample was collected from that place. The measured clinic parameters were: gingival index, index of gingival bleeding, pocket depth and plaque indices. The multiplex Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method was used for detection of periopathogens. After obtaining results, appropriate statistical tests were used to correlate the clinical and microbiological results. Results. Aa and Pg were detected in the same percentage of samples. Aa and Pg were detected in 35.29% samples alone, and in 29.41% both were detected. The values of measured clinical parameters did not show a statistical significance between the groups. In analysis of correlations among clinical parameters inside the groups, a statistical significance was found only between gingival and plaque index in the group with Aa. Conclusion. Clinical course of periodontitis in the developed stage does not differ in relation to the presence of different periopathogens as the major inductors of immunologically guided destructive processes.

    Authors: Çöklü, Hatice;

    Toplumsal hareketler ve sanat akımları, ortak bir akıl ya da fikir tabanında oluşmuş insan topluluklarının ortaklaşa hareketleri olarak ifade edilebilir. Birbirinden ayrı hareket eden ortak akıl grupları ve sanat akımları da toplumsal hareketler içerisinde varlığını gösterir. 1789 Fransız Devriminin ardından Oluympede Gouges tarafından 1791 yılında `Les Droits La Femme` (Kadın ve Kadın Yurttaşların Hakları Bildirgesi) ile başlayan, 1960'larda Avrupa ve ABD'de, 1980'lerde ülkemizde, etkilerini gösteren ve hız kazanan feminist toplumsal hareketler sosyolojik, kültürel ve sanatsal boyutta cinsiyetçi bakış açısının tartışılıp yaygınlaşmasında yeni mücadele alanları geliştirmiştir. Postmodern sanat, popülist kültürün sunduğu tüketici anlayışla, alternatif teknik ve malzemelerin kullanılması sonucunda modern dönem sanat disiplinlerine; Kavramsal Sanat (Conceptual Art), Yoksul Sanat (Art Povera), Süreç Sanatı (Process Art), Beden Sanatı (Body Art), Gösteri Sanatı (Performans Art), Happinings, Eylemler (Actions), Fluxus, Yeryüzü Sanatı (Eart Art), Queer Art gibi yeni sanat disiplinlerinin tanımlanmasına neden olmuştur. Bunun sonucunda sanat nesnesinin statüsünü, izleyicinin rolünü yeniden biçimlendirmiştir.Türkiye feminist sanatçılarını incelediğimizde uzun yıllar yurt dışında yaşamış ya da yaşayan, doğuya batının alışık olduğu perspektiften; oryantalist bakış açısıyla bakan ve kadın konusunu yapıtlarında cesurca dile getiren: Nil Yalter (1938), Füsun Onur (d.1938), İpek Düben (d.1941), Gülsün Karamustafa (d.1946), Hale Tenger (d.1960), Şükran Moral (d.1963), Canan Şenol (d.1970) ve Nezahat Ekici (d.1970) yi görürüz.1980'li yıllarda oluşan `kimlik` ve `farklılık` politikası, `postmodern politika` çatısı altında birleştirilmiş kültür, mekân ve zaman parçalanmalarına, öznelliğe ve yeni sanat biçimlerine sebebiyet vererek, feminist sanat algısını değiştirmiş, postfeminist sanat algısını oluşturmuştur.Feminist sanatçıların (Nancy Spero, May Stevens, Judy Chicago, Martha Roslar vb.) `başkaları için varlık` ya da `kendi başına varlık` olan kadına yönelik eleştirel yapıtları, postfeminist sanatçıların (Sarah Lucas, Cindy Sherman, Canan Şenol, Tracey Emin) `kendi için varlık` olduklarını yansıtan yapıtlara evrilmiştir.Hayata bakış ve kavrayışımı, postfeminist bir yaklaşımla ele aldığım bu tez çalışmasında, iktidar ve toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri üzerine göndermeler bulunmaktadır. Eril ve iktidar nitelikleri görünür kılan, toplum içinde yerleşmiş cinsiyet ve kültür kodlarına, eleştirel bir bakış açısıyla gerçekleştirilen çalışmalarımda, özgün bir plastik dilin oluşturulması amaçlanmıştır.Anahtar Sözcükler:Postmodernizm, feminizm, postfeminizm, sanat, kadın. Social activities and art movements may be stated as collective activities of human groups which formed on the ground of a common mind or idea. Collective opinion groups and art movements which move separately are also existed in social movements. Feminist social movements which started with `Les Droits La Femme` (Declaration of the Rights of Woman and the Female Citizen) by Oluympe de Gouges in 1791 after 1789 French Revolution, effected Europe and the USA in 1960's and Turkey in 1980's, opened new grounds on which sexist viewpoint in culture and art is discussed.Postmodern art, with the consumer mentality offered by populist culture, as a result of using alternative techniques and materials, caused defining new art disciplines like Conceptual Art, Art Povera, Process Art, Body Art, Performance Art, Happening, Actions, Fluxus, Earth Art, Queer Art in modern art. As a result, it reshaped the status of the art object and the role of the viewer.When we study Turkish feminist artist we see Nil Yalter (b. 1938), Füsun Onur (b. 1938), İpek Düben (b. 1941), Gülsün Karamustafa (b. 1946), Hale Tenger (b. 1960), Şükran Moral (b. 1963), Canan Şenol (b. 1970) and Nezahat Ekici (b. 1970) who lived or has been living abroad for many years, can look at the east through a perspective which the west is used to: the orientalist view; and express the subject of woman in their works bravely. `Identity` and `difference` policy, emerged in 1980's, causing subjectivity, new forms of art and fragmentations in culture, place and time, which unified in `postmodern policy`, has changed the feminist art perception and formed the post feminist art perception.Critical works of feminist artists (Nancy Spero, May Stevens, Judy Chicago, Martha Roslar etc.) against woman `being for others` or `being in itself` have evolved to post feminist artists' (Sarah Lucas, CindySherman, Canan Şenol, Tracey Emin) works which reflect woman `being for itself`In this thesis study, in which I discuss how I view and comprehend life with a post feminist approach, there are some references to power and social gender roles. With my works, which are formed with a critical approach to the common gender and culture codes of society that make masculine and power characters visible, it is intended to form an original plastic language.Key Words:Postmodernism, feminism, post feminism, art, woman 88

    In the paper, the proportions of the sea clutter Intrinsic Mode Functions (ab. IMFs) energy to the whole signal energy and the influence of the target on the proportions are discussed. It is found that the latter low frequency IMFs are weaker when no target is hit, but they are stronger when the target is hit, and the proportions of their energy to the whole signal energy become larger, which could be described by the Membership Degree of the IMFs Energy (ab. MDIE). So the MDIE is proposed to detect the weak target, whose performance to detect the slowly fluctuant target in the sea clutter is better than the one of the weak target detection method directly using the box dimension.

    Authors: Julie Barkworth; Kristina Murphy;

    Victims of crime often feel re-victimised when they come into contact with criminal justice professionals. Police, as first responders to many victimisation experiences, therefore need to be particularly sensitive to the way in which they treat victims if they wish to reduce the occurrence of such secondary victimisation. The present study seeks to explore the role that procedural justice policing can play in improving the wellbeing and quality of life of crime victims after system contact. Importantly, it also seeks to put forward a framework for understanding why procedural justice policing might improve victims’ quality of life; this framework draws heavily on theories of emotion. The study utilises survey data collected from 171 crime victims to show that procedural justice policing can indeed reduce the negative impact that system contact can have on a victim’s quality of life. It will be shown that procedural justice enhances victims’ quality of life because it serves to diminish the negative emotions experienced by victims of crime when they come into contact with legal authorities.

    Our daily life is surrounded by textual information. Nowadays, the automatic collection of textual information becomes possible owing to the drastic improvement of scene text detectors and recognizer. The purpose of this paper is to conduct a large-scale survey of co-occurrence between visual objects (such as book and car) and scene texts with a large image dataset and a state-of-the-art scene text detector and recognizer. Especially, we focus on the function of "label" texts, which are attached to objects for detailing the objects. By analyzing co-occurrence between objects and scene texts, it is possible to observe the statistics about the label texts and understand how the scene texts will be useful for recognizing the objects and vice versa. Eating disorders (EDs) are complex psychiatric diagnoses requiring specialized care. Family-based treatment (FBT) is the first-line treatment for adolescent anorexia nervosa and is also efficacious for other EDs. This study describes practice changes due to the implementation of an integrated interdisciplinary FBT-aligned treatment program for EDs at a large tertiary care hospital in the United States. We examined the feasibility and acceptability of implementation, barriers to implementation, and impact on providers' roles over a one-year period. Practice changes came with shifts in roles, and were largely experienced as acceptable with good suitability. Barriers identified may inform future interdisciplinary implementation efforts.

    The combined use of chemical analysis of organic molecules in atmospheric aerosols (PM1) collected in situ in Barcelona and optical measurements with a light detection and ranging (LIDAR) instrument allowed the characterization of the smoke plume from a wildfire that reached the city in July 2012. Analysis of the chemical composition of the aerosols collected on 23 July 2012 confirmed the large effect of biomass burning on urban air quality during a period of several hours. Typical biomass burning tracers, such as levoglucosan, dehydroabietic acid and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) were enhanced at the same time as the aerosol concentrations in the boundary layer increased. According to air-mass trajectory modeling, the biomass burning particles originated from a severe wildfire burning 120 km northeast of the city. On the following days, no significant contribution of wildfire smoke was found in the urban air, although the lidar detected particles aloft. A Lagrangian particle dispersion model (FLEXPART) was used to simulate the transport of aerosols (PM2.5) and carbon monoxide (CO), and the simulated concentrations in Barcelona were compared to in-situ measurements. FLEXPART simulated the onset of the wildfire smoke plume event in the urban center in the early morning of 23 July successfully; by contrast, the fast passage of the plume at the surface and the decoupling of the cleaner boundary layer from the persistent smoke plume aloft was not well captured. This was attributed to the fact that the model did not capture the local sea-breeze circulation well enough. Peer Reviewed

    This paper concerns the development of a new approach for orthopaedic footwear to apply in KAFO orthosis (acronym for Knee Ankle Foot Orthosis). This procedure starts with full characterization of the problem with the purpose to characterize a plantar of a patient’s foot with polio. A 3D Scanner was used to collect their feet's data to produce an anatomic insole. After this step, the patient performs a study of his gait using a static and dynamic study with the aim of characterizing the parameters to improve quality in the footwear. The insole was produced using a 3D printing technology. It was essential to optimize manufacturing processes and it was developed a footwear prototype with innovative characteristics, which is 25% lighter, allowing the user to consume less energy in daily routines. This work is supported by FEDER funding on the COMPETE program and by national funds through FCT-Foundation for Science and Technology within the scope of the project POCI-01-0145-FEDER- 007136 and UID/CTM/00264. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

    Authors: Steven S. Sharfstein;

    SummaryThe number of in-patient beds for psychiatric treatment in America has declined dramatically over the past 40 years. Public and private policies have encouraged an extremely short-term, crisis-stabilisation model of treatment. This is true on both general and subspecialty units. As a result, readmissions have increased, emergency rooms are crowded, and many patients end up homeless or incarcerated in the criminal justice system. These changes have created a public health crisis in America, and are the greatest challenges that American psychiatry faces today.

    The global framework set forth by the United Nations 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) include water resources in their scope, which emphasizes how water assets and society well-being are closely intertwined and how crucial they are to achieving sustainable development. This paper explores the role of hydropolitics in that Post-2015 Development Agenda and uses Brazilian hydropolitics set to reach SDG6 as a case study.

    Mental, neurological, and substance use (MNS) disorders contribute approximately 10 percent of the global burden of disease. They often run a chronic course, are highly disabling, and are associated with significant premature mortality. Moreover, beyond their health consequences, the impact of these disorders on the social and economic well-being of individuals, families, and societies is enormous. Despite this burden, MNS disorders have been systematically neglected in most of the world, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), with pitifully small contributions to prevention and treatment by governments and development agencies. Systematically compiling the substantial evidence that already exists to address this inequity is the central goal of volume 4 of Disease Control Priorities, third edition (DCP3). The evidence presented in this volume will help to build an evidence-based perspective on which policies and interventions for addressing MNS disorders should be prioritized in resource-constrained settings. The findings of this volume make an emphatic case for a substantially increased investment in the prevention of and care for MNS disorders. We document highly cost-effective strategies for the prevention of some MNS disorders and affordable models of care for the delivery of treatment interventions in routine health care platforms through non-specialist health workers. Such investments make economic sense for two reasons: the interventions we recommend are cost-effective, and the impact of these interventions on social and economic outcomes is immense. The counterfactual situation of not doing enough, which prevails in most populations, is leading to enormous loss of human capital and will hinder the ambition of sustainable development. The evidence in this volume can be translated into practice only with strong political will and commitment from the governments and developmental agencies who now have to make the necessary investments in their scale-up.
